Description: This piece was inspired by a generous offer to paint a friend's living room wall canvas. Growing up, everyone called him Lord Gnesda. I wanted to give him the authority in this painting which expressed his power. However, the twist is that he also went to Law School. I am unsure which law he studied; however, I went with a criminal law theme. For instance, in Los Angeles, over time, the community has suffered from police brutality. Therefore, I went with a police officer who is not depicted entirely as an officer but as skeletal. This skeletal being appears to be shooting one or two individuals but has already gotten away with several others. This shows an ascendence into the new world or the afterlife, with many angels entering the heavens. You can see mini gray halos above these beings. The most prominent ghost angel is in between the spray paint facial structure in the middle of the canvas. This has a gold halo above this ghost angel. The significance is that their legacy remains to live forever. I also added a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball logo in this piece. This gives the audience a warmer feeling and a more robust connection to the theme and the baseball community. Remember, this piece was dedicated to "Lord Gnesda," and he grew up going to Angel games in Anaheim. The meaning "Obey Please" conveys that law has to be in place but also has to be obeyed, or else death and brutality occur. This is definitely an unfair way of going about things; however, it seems to be an ongoing occurrence. Lastly, the face in the middle of the canvas displays the mouth to have bars, showing us the oppressed gestures we feel every day when silenced or unable to communicate our perspectives or sides of a story.
